Why this annotation
TFF2, MUC5AC, AZGP1, and KRT7 define a gastric/mucous metaplasia-type secretory program distinct from the intestinal goblet program in M12. In the colon, co-expression of MUC5AC (gastric mucin) and TFF2 (trefoil factor 2, normally gastric) with KRT7 is characteristic of aberrant gastric-type or pyloric metaplasia (SPEM-like). CDKN2A (p16/ARF) adds a senescence component. CIRBP is a cold/stress RNA-binding protein. TACSTD2, WFDC2, MDK, and RAMP1 are consistent with a stress-associated metaplastic epithelial state. The moderate coherence and several weak members reflect the mixed metaplastic/stress nature of this program.
