Why this annotation
All 15 genes are canonical interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) driven by IFN-γ and/or type I/II IFN signaling. Hub genes GBP1, GBP5, GBP4 are guanylate-binding proteins induced by IFN-γ; ISG15, ISG20 are classical type I ISGs; XAF1, IFIH1 (MDA5), SAMD9L, PARP14, APOL6, APOL2, CXCL10, ETV7, SOCS1, TAP1 are all well-documented ISGs. The module is strongly upregulated in IBD inflammation (UC and CD) and returns to baseline in remission, consistent with IFN-driven inflammatory activation of monocytes. Core coherence and uniform expression across subsets support a tight, single IFN-response program.
