Why this annotation
This module is a textbook type I interferon signature. Hub genes: IFIT2, MX1, MX2 (classical antiviral ISGs), ISG15 (ubiquitin-like ISG), STAT2 (type I IFN signaling), IRF7 (master type I IFN transcription factor), IFI6, LY6E, SAMD9, TRIM22, XAF1, TNFSF10 (TRAIL, IFN-induced apoptosis), GCH1 (IFN-induced GTP cyclohydrolase). SP110 and MEFV (pyrin) add innate immune context. This is clearly distinct from M101 (IFN-γ/type II) by the presence of MX1/MX2, ISG15, IFIT2, STAT2, and IRF7 — all type I IFN-specific. The uniform expression across subsets and significant CD inflammation association are consistent with a broadly activated antiviral/type I IFN state.
