Why this annotation
This module has very low expression (5.1% positive) and is strongly upregulated in CD inflammation and suppressed by CD treatment. Hub genes include POU3F1 (Oct-6, a POU-domain TF associated with stem/progenitor quiescence), CDKN1C (p57/KIP2, a CDK inhibitor associated with cell cycle exit and imprinted quiescence), MAFB and MAFA (large Maf transcription factors associated with differentiation programs), PIK3R3 (PI3K regulatory subunit), FADS3 (fatty acid desaturase), and RGS2 (G-protein signaling regulator). The combination of CDKN1C-mediated cell cycle arrest with Maf-family differentiation TFs suggests a rare quiescent/slow-cycling progenitor state that is specifically activated or expanded during CD inflammation. The very low pct positive is consistent with a rare cell state.
