WARS1 — Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase 1

WARS1 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 2 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Catalyzes the attachment of tryptophan to tRNA(Trp) in a two- step reaction: tryptophan is first activated by ATP to form Trp-AMP and then transferred to the acceptor end of the tRNA(Trp). Has no angiostatic activity. Possesses an angiostatic activity but has no aminoacylation activity. Inhibits fluid shear stress-activated responses of endothelial cells. Regulates ERK, Akt, and eNOS activation pathways that are associated with angiogenesis, cytoskeletal reorganization and shear stress-responsive gene expression. Has an angiostatic activity
