NEURL3 — Neuralized E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 3

NEURL3 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 1 of 30 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that plays a role in various biological processes such as lung development or innate immunity. Seems to utilize UBE2E1. Promotes innate antiviral response by catalyzing 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitination of IRF7. Also inhibits hepatitis C virus assembly by directly binding to viral E1 envelope glycoprotein to disrupt its interaction with E2. Plays an essential role in TLR4-mediated activation of MAPK pathways by promoting 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination of the phosphatase DUSP1/MKP1.
