PTER — Phosphotriesterase related
PTER belongs to a gene co-expression module in 1 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function
N-acetyltaurine hydrolase that regulates feeding by catalyzing the hydrolysis of N-acetyltaurine into taurine and acetate. N-acetyltaurine has anorexigenic and anti-obesity effects that are dependent on GFRAL receptor and GDF15 (By similarity). PTER also acts on other N-acetyl amino acids (Met, Ile, Leu, Val) and N-propionyltaurine, but at lower rates (By similarity)
