UBAP2L — Ubiquitin associated protein 2 like

UBAP2L belongs to a gene co-expression module in 2 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Recruits the ubiquitination machinery to RNA polymerase II for polyubiquitination, removal and degradation, when the transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair (TC-NER) machinery fails to resolve DNA damage. Plays an important role in the activity of long-term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells (LT- HSCs) (By similarity). Is a regulator of stress granule assembly, required for their efficient formation. Required for proper brain development and neocortex lamination (By similarity).
