Why this annotation
Most hub genes peak in L cells: the colonic SCFA/monocarboxylate transporter SLC5A8, the neuropod-associated synaptic adhesion gene NRXN3, the Ca2+-activated channel ANO4 and the cGMP regulator PDE5A. Together they point to a distal L-cell non-hormonal sensing program, distinct from the hormone-centred GLP-1/PYY L-cell program because GCG and PYY are absent.
