Why this annotation
STAT1 is the master transcription factor of IFN-γ signaling. GBP1/2/4 (guanylate-binding proteins), PARP9/14, TAP1/2 (antigen processing), APOL6, IDO1 (tryptophan catabolism), RNF213, XAF1, and HLA-E/F are all canonical interferon-gamma-stimulated genes. The module is significantly upregulated in IBD inflammation and reversed in remission. This is a tight IFN-γ response module, neighboring M93 (MHC-II antigen presentation) which is also IFN-γ driven — consistent with a shared upstream IFN-γ signal.
