Why this annotation
Hub genes SUMO1 and SUMO2 encode the primary SUMO paralogs mediating protein SUMOylation. SNRPE, SRSF9, ERH, and THOC7 are core pre-mRNA splicing and mRNA export factors. RTRAF is an RNA transcription/processing regulator. SEC11A is a signal peptidase but is a minor peripheral member. The module is uniformly expressed and downregulated in CD inflammation, consistent with loss of general RNA processing homeostasis. The co-occurrence of SUMOylation and splicing factors is coherent because SUMO modification regulates splicing factor activity and nuclear organization.
