Why this annotation
CMKLR1 (chemerin receptor) is a macrophage/tissue-resident marker. It co-occurs with lysosomal lipid-handling genes (LIPA, ACP2), lipid signaling and metabolism genes (DAGLA, PDK4, ESRRA), NRROS, and LAIR1. Together this suggests a monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation state with lipid and lysosomal metabolism, distinct from the recruited-monocyte neighbors. SRC, SASH1, FARP2 and EPB41L3 reflect cytoskeletal signaling during maturation. Lower expression is consistent with a subset-specific differentiation state.
