Why this annotation
Hub genes CDKN1C and LYPD2 are established markers of non-classical (CD14lo CD16hi patrolling) monocytes. SPN/CD43 is expressed on monocytes, PTGES encodes prostaglandin E synthase linking this subset to inflammatory lipid mediator production, and RHOC supports migratory capacity. The module is significantly upregulated during active inflammation in both UC and CD, consistent with non-classical monocyte expansion/activation in intestinal inflammation. CD79B is anomalous but may reflect low-level co-expression in this rare subset. Low mean expression and pct positive (7.8%) are consistent with a rare monocyte subpopulation.
