Why this annotation
Top hubs include canonical CD4 T-cell costimulatory and activation genes: CD28, ICOS, CCR4 (Th2/Treg chemokine receptor), PTPRC (CD45), and the activation-linked transcription factor ZNF831. The module is induced in inflamed UC/CD tissue and reduced with treatment, consistent with an activated effector/costimulatory CD4 T-cell state. Other genes (CREBRF, PJA2, ERBIN, SF3A1) are more housekeeping/regulatory, but the immune hub genes drive identity. Neighbor modules M49 and M70 share a broad activated/metabolic T-cell theme, supporting an activation interpretation.
