Why this annotation
Nearly every gene is sharply restricted to pre_EEC, and the module correlates strongly (0.84) with the NEUROG3+ endocrine progenitor module. Residual goblet/colonocyte genes (MUC4, SPINK4, HSD11B2) co-occur with crypt and quiescence/proliferation genes (SLC12A2, BTG2, G0S2, PIMREG), consistent with an immature pre-EEC state. Many specific hubs (FGFRL1, VWC2, KLK4, TRPM8, COL4A2/4) have no known role in EEC differentiation, so this may instead be a donor-specific pre_EEC subpopulation.
