Why this annotation
Every gene peaks in EC cells, and TPH1 and DDC, the two-step serotonin synthesis enzymes, are near-universal there. RGS2, ITPR3, KCNC1 and CACNA1H form the Ca2+ signalling and excitability machinery of mechano/chemosensory serotonin release, and CDKN2A, GLIS3 and SORCS2 are recognized EC-enriched markers. This makes the module the core enterochromaffin identity program. RAB30's plasma-cell signal is a localized EC feature rather than contamination.
