Why this annotation
Hub genes are a mix of uniformly expressed, highly abundant housekeeping transcripts: PFDN5 (chaperone), HMGN1 (chromatin), HNRNPA1 (splicing), NOP53 (ribosome biogenesis), EIF3E (translation initiation) and COX6C (oxidative phosphorylation). These span several unrelated programs. Their co-expression most likely reflects library size and transcriptional output rather than a discrete pathway. FCGRT and PPDPF are epithelial-expressed but do not define a separate program. RNA processing and translation genes form the largest functional subset, so that is the label.
