Why this annotation
Hub genes are broadly expressed, low-abundance housekeeping genes with no lineage restriction. They span mitochondrial maintenance (FASTKD1, CHCHD3, NARS2, TARBP1), RNA processing (INTS7, TSEN2, WDR75), DNA replication and repair (WRN, POLA1) and heterochromatin (CBX5). Expression is uniform. Like its neighbors, this looks like a generic gene-detection/transcriptional-capacity axis (cell quality or size) rather than a specific monocyte program. A few genes (FASTKD1, CHCHD3, NARS2, TARBP1) point weakly to mitochondrial gene expression.
