Why this annotation
TFEC is the hub; it is a MiT/TFE transcription factor that drives lysosomal genes and is enriched in macrophages. It co-occurs with NOD2 (an intracellular bacterial sensor), the lysosomal transporter SLC18B1 and GCNT2. This indicates a TFEC-driven lysosomal/antibacterial macrophage-differentiation program in colonic monocytes. The module is small and expressed at a lower level.
