Why this annotation
MRC1 (CD206, mannose receptor) is the prototypical M2/alternatively activated macrophage marker. MAF (c-Maf) is a transcription factor that drives M2 polarization and tissue-resident macrophage identity. LIPA (lysosomal acid lipase) mediates cholesterol ester hydrolysis in macrophages. CD84 (SLAM family receptor) is expressed on monocytes/macrophages and modulates activation. ADAP2 and ARHGAP18 regulate cytoskeletal dynamics in macrophages. FRMD4B is involved in cell polarity. Together these define an M2/alternatively activated macrophage polarization state, decreased in remission.
