Why this annotation
CXCL8 is the top hub. It sits alongside immediate early and stress-response genes: JUND, FOS, DUSP1, KLF2, RHOB, PPP1R15A, BHLHE40, SERTAD2 and EIF1. FTH1 marks an inflammatory/oxidative response. This mixture fits partly in vivo CXCL8-driven inflammatory activation and partly dissociation-induced early stress. FOS has weak membership, and CXCL8, BHLHE40 and ITGAX are core members, which suggests real inflammatory activation contributes. However, the IEG and translational/RNA-binding genes (EIF1, HNRNPC, FUS, RANBP2) dominate the gene list, so I classify it as a stress-type early response. Its neighbor modules M70 and M92 show genuine activation, so some in vivo contribution is likely.
