SCUBA

SNRNP70 — Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein U1 subunit 70

SNRNP70 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 2 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Component of the spliceosomal U1 snRNP, which is essential for recognition of the pre-mRNA 5' splice-site and the subsequent assembly of the spliceosome. SNRNP70 binds to the loop I region of U1-snRNA. Truncated isoforms that lack the RRM domain cannot bind U1-snRNA. Truncated isoforms that lack the RRM domain cannot bind U1-snRNA
