Why this annotation
The module is anchored by immunoproteasome subunits PSMB8 (β5i/LMP7), PSMB9 (β1i/LMP2), PSME1 (PA28α), PSME2 (PA28β) — all IFN-γ-inducible immunoproteasome components — alongside MHC class I genes HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-F, B2M (β2-microglobulin), UBE2L6 (ISG15 E2 conjugating enzyme), BST2 (tetherin, IFN-inducible), EPSTI1 (IFN-inducible), IFI27 (ISG), PYCARD (ASC, inflammasome). This is a coherent IFN-driven immunoproteasome and MHC-I antigen presentation program, distinct from M68 (MHC-II/IFN-γ) and M2 (Type I ISGs), but part of the same interferon response neighborhood. Upregulated in both UC and CD inflammation.

Module annotations were drafted by a large language model from the module's genes, then reviewed and approved by a domain expert. See sources & licences.
