Why this annotation
The module is dominated by mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation subunits: UQCRQ, UQCR11, UQCRB (complex III/ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase subunits), ATP5MG, ATP5F1E, ATP5PO (ATP synthase/complex V subunits), COX4I1 (cytochrome c oxidase/complex IV subunit). GNG5 (G-protein gamma subunit) and SERF2 (small EDRK-rich factor) are peripheral. PSMB3 (proteasome beta subunit) is a minor outlier. This is a tightly coherent, high-confidence mitochondrial OXPHOS module, consistent with the neighbor M47 which also contains OXPHOS genes. The two modules together represent the mitochondrial respiratory chain program in intestinal fibroblasts.
