Why this annotation
Hub genes GJA5 (connexin-40, arterial gap junction marker), BMX (bone marrow tyrosine kinase, arterial endothelial/pericyte signaling), TMEM100 (arterial pericyte/endothelial marker), SEMA3G (semaphorin 3G, arterial vascular guidance cue), and FBLN2 (fibulin-2, arterial ECM component) collectively define an arterial pericyte identity program. PLLP and TSPAN2 mark specialized membrane microdomains in vascular cells. The module is strongly suppressed in both UC and CD inflammation and robustly restored in remission (delta_remission_UC=0.848, delta_remission_CD=0.694), indicating loss of arterial pericyte identity during active IBD. As a topological neighbor of M8, both modules capture complementary pericyte identity programs suppressed by intestinal inflammation.
