CHD6 — Chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 6
CHD6 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 3 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function
ATP-dependent chromatin-remodeling factor. Regulates transcription by disrupting nucleosomes in a largely non-sliding manner which strongly increases the accessibility of chromatin; nucleosome disruption requires ATP. Activates transcription of specific genes in response to oxidative stress through interaction with NFE2L2. (Microbial infection) Acts as a transcriptional repressor of different viruses including influenza virus or papillomavirus. During influenza virus infection, the viral polymerase complex localizes CHD6 to inactive chromatin where it gets degraded in a proteasome independent-manner.
