Why this annotation
The hub genes EEF2K (which inhibits eEF2-mediated elongation) and PDCD4 (which inhibits eIF4A-dependent initiation) are both suppressed by mTOR/S6K. Their co-expression indicates a low-mTOR, translationally repressed epithelial state, consistent with quiescent or nutrient-limited colonocytes. The other members form a secondary apical-membrane/glycosylation flavor: PROM1 (a microvillus protrusion protein that also marks progenitors), CDHR1, PTPRJ and B3GALT5. This mixed composition keeps confidence modest. The module sits beside M43, indicating a baseline differentiated colonocyte state.
