Why this annotation
This is a highly expressed, broadly detected module (87%) with no subset specificity. It is dominated by transcription regulators: PBX1 (TALE homeobox), ZBTB20 (a zinc-finger factor controlling intestinal epithelial and metabolic gene programs) and MAML3 (Notch coactivator). It also contains the enterocyte-specific bile acid/FGF19 regulator MALRD1 and SPTLC3, a sphingolipid synthesis gene. Together these suggest a baseline enterocyte/colonocyte transcriptional identity program. Many members (PBX1, PLXDC2, ZBTB20, MAML3, CAMK2G) are very long genes, so a nuclear/intronic long-gene capture component cannot be excluded. It neighbors M37, which carries TALE/Notch regulators (MEIS1, NOTCH2), supporting a shared developmental transcription axis.
