Why this annotation

This is the highest inflammation-delta module in the batch (UC: 2.944, CD: 3.809), with strong remission reversal. All hub genes are MHC class II molecules (HLA-DRA, HLA-DPA1, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DPB1, HLA-DRB5, HLA-DQB1, HLA-DMA) and the invariant chain CD74, which are hallmarks of IFN-gamma-induced MHC class II expression on non-professional antigen-presenting cells such as epithelial cells. Additional genes include C2 (complement component 2, also IFN-gamma induced), LCN2 (lipocalin-2, acute phase/inflammatory marker in IBD), and PSMB9 (immunoproteasome subunit, IFN-gamma regulated). The module is entirely coherent (all core membership). This represents IFN-gamma-driven MHC class II upregulation on goblet cells during IBD inflammation. Neighbor M33 covers MHC class I, confirming a neighborhood of coordinated IFN-driven antigen presentation programs.
