Why this annotation
This core module is dominated by germinal center B-cell markers and the somatic hypermutation/DNA-repair machinery: RGS13 (canonical GC B-cell marker), SERPINA9 (GC-specific serpin), HMCES (shields abasic sites during somatic hypermutation/class switching), OGG1 and NEIL-type base excision repair, RFC1 (replication factor C, DNA repair), SSBP2, EAF2 (ELL-associated factor, regulates SHM/affinity maturation), KLHL6 (GC B-cell BCR signaling), PHF6 (chromatin). This is a coherent germinal center B-cell affinity maturation/SHM program. Inflammation-up and treatment-down in UC fits expansion of GC reactions in inflamed intestine. Complements neighbor M29's GC differentiation program.
