Why this annotation
SOX17 (master arterial EC transcription factor) and RAMP2 (receptor activity-modifying protein 2, component of adrenomedullin/CGRP receptor, highly expressed in arterial ECs) are canonical arterial identity markers. ASS1 (argininosuccinate synthase, rate-limiting for NO synthesis via arginine recycling) supports arterial function. EPHA4 (ephrin receptor involved in arterial-venous boundary), AIF1L (actin-related, EC-expressed). Module is downregulated in inflammation and restored in remission, consistent with loss of arterial EC identity during inflammatory remodeling.
