Why this annotation
CFTR, HNMT, DACH1, SULT1E1, MBOAT1 and ACACA mark a less-differentiated colonocyte and transit-amplifying crypt program. CFTR drives crypt chloride and fluid secretion, and DACH1 is a crypt-base transcription factor. The module is uniformly expressed and tightly coherent, and several members are long genes (ZNF804A, EML4, PLCE1). Together this suggests an immature colonocyte state with secretory ion transport.
