Why this annotation
IL1R1 is the top hub and encodes the IL-1 receptor type I, a central mediator of inflammatory fibroblast activation in IBD. GNAI1 (inhibitory G-protein) and PDLIM1 (cytoskeletal LIM domain protein involved in actin organization downstream of cytokine signaling) are consistent with IL-1 downstream signaling. ST3GAL1 mediates glycosylation changes associated with inflammatory states. The module is upregulated in CD inflammation. The remaining genes (CHIC2, MMD, PRR16, SMIM3, TUSC3) are less characterized but co-regulated in this context.
