Why this annotation
Hub genes ID1 and ID3 are canonical BMP-SMAD1/5/8 transcriptional targets. SMAD7 is induced as negative feedback to TGF-β/BMP signaling. A2M sequesters TGF-β superfamily ligands and modulates BMP activity. CRLF1 connects to CNTF-family neuroprotective signaling, GDNF is a key enteric glial neurotrophic factor, and NRXN2/ARC reflect glial activity states. The upregulation in UC remission (delta_remission_UC=0.797) is consistent with BMP-driven mucosal and glial repair programs. Together these define a coherent BMP-SMAD glial signaling module with neurotrophic co-activation.
