SLC2A3 — Solute carrier family 2 member 3

SLC2A3 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 12 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

About the gene

SynonymsGLUT3
Chromosome12: 7919230-7936187
Predicted locationMembrane
Essential geneNo
Protein classMetabolic proteins, Predicted membrane proteins, Transporters
Biological processSugar transport, Transport

Function

Facilitative glucose transporter. Can also mediate the uptake of various other monosaccharides across the cell membrane. Mediates the uptake of glucose, 2- deoxyglucose, galactose, mannose, xylose and fucose, and probably also dehydroascorbate. Does not mediate fructose transport. Required for mesendoderm differentiation (By similarity).
