Why this annotation
SAMD9 and SAMD9L are canonical antiviral restriction factors strongly induced by interferon. XAF1, ADAR, OAS2, GBP1, TRIM22, RNF213, SP110, PARP9, and PARP14 are all established interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) involved in antiviral defense, innate sensing, and RNA editing. STAT1 is the master transcription factor driving ISG expression. This is a highly coherent, canonical interferon-stimulated gene (ISG) module representing type I/II IFN antiviral response, closely neighboring M45 which represents a more IFN-gamma/apoptotic arm.
