Why this annotation
RUNX3 is the master transcription factor for CD8 T cell differentiation, tissue residency, and effector programs. ZEB2 drives terminal effector and tissue-resident memory CD8 T cell identity. ETS1 regulates T cell survival and effector function. IKZF3 (Aiolos) controls T cell differentiation. JUND (AP-1 family) is active in effector/exhausted T cells. PTPRC (CD45) marks lymphocyte maturation state. MXD4 and TRPS1 are transcriptional repressors active during differentiation. DDX17, DDX3X, and SON participate in RNA processing during T cell activation. The module is highly coherent (core) and dominated by TFs that collectively define CD8 T cell maturation toward effector-memory or tissue-resident states.
