Why this annotation
ERG is a critical ETS transcription factor for HSC maintenance and self-renewal. ANGPT1 is selectively expressed by long-term HSCs and marks the quiescent stem cell niche. TFEC is a MiT/TFE family TF expressed in early hematopoietic progenitors. SERPINB6 protects hematopoietic progenitors from apoptosis. NPR3 and CALN1 regulate progenitor signaling. Together these genes define a hematopoietic stem/progenitor identity program.
