FUT11 — Fucosyltransferase 11

FUT11 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 3 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Protein O-fucosyltransferase that specifically catalyzes O- fucosylation of serine or threonine residues in EMI domains of target proteins, such as MMRN1, MMRN2 and EMID1. Attaches fucose through an O-glycosidic linkage. O- fucosylation of EMI domain-containing proteins may be required for facilitating protein folding and secretion. Also shows minor alpha-(1,3)-fucosyltransferase activity toward activity toward biantennary N-glycan acceptors. However, this was tested with a library of synthetic substrates and this activity is unsure in vivo.
