Why this annotation
Hub genes FGFBP2 and FCGR3A (CD16) are canonical markers of mature cytotoxic NK cells. PRF1 (perforin), SPON2 (NK adhesion/cytotoxicity scaffold), PRSS23 (serine protease in cytotoxic NK), and ADGRG1 (GPR56, mature NK marker) all support a mature cytotoxic NK cell identity. CXCR2 mediates NK cell recruitment to inflamed tissue. Module is strongly upregulated in UC/CD inflammation and reduced in remission, consistent with cytotoxic NK cell expansion during intestinal inflammation.
