Why this annotation
RXFP1 (relaxin family peptide receptor 1) is expressed in vascular ECs and mediates vasodilation/angiogenesis. TSPAN12 is required for retinal/Norrin-Frizzled4 angiogenic signaling and marks tip/stalk ECs. ABCG2 marks EC tip cells and vascular stem-like cells. MAOA (monoamine oxidase A) and INMT (indolethylamine N-methyltransferase) are metabolic enzymes expressed in specific EC subtypes. CYB5A is involved in lipid/steroid metabolism. HLF (hepatic leukemia factor) is a circadian clock TF expressed in quiescent ECs. CAMTA1 is a calmodulin-binding TF in ECs. CDH23 is a cadherin. The module is significantly decreased in UC inflammation, suggesting loss of a quiescent/specialized arterial-capillary EC state during inflammation.
