Why this annotation
This module is very lowly expressed (mean 0.117, 9.3% positive) and is strongly and significantly downregulated in UC inflammation (delta = -0.854), recovering with treatment and remission. Hub genes include PCDH7 and PCDH19 (protocadherins mediating cell-cell identity and adhesion), ADGRG6 (adhesion GPCR involved in vascular development), TIAM1 (Rac1 GEF for cell polarity/migration), and KLF8 (transcription factor). Together these suggest a quiescent endothelial cell identity program defined by cell-cell adhesion molecules and identity transcription factors that is lost during active intestinal inflammation. As a topological neighbor to M47 (vasoactive signaling), both modules represent complementary aspects of normal endothelial homeostasis suppressed in IBD.
