Why this annotation

Hub genes IFI16 (innate immune DNA sensor, interferon-stimulated gene), TRIM22 (interferon-stimulated E3 ubiquitin ligase), PLSCR1 (interferon-stimulated phospholipid scramblase), SAMHD1 (interferon-stimulated dNTPase/antiviral), IFI6 (interferon alpha-inducible), and CCL7 (chemokine) define a type I/II interferon response program. BASP1 (brain acid soluble protein, also ISG-associated), CLEC2B (C-type lectin, immune), TNFSF10 (TRAIL, interferon-inducible apoptosis ligand), ABCA1 (cholesterol transporter, also ISG), and S1PR2 (sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor, immune cell trafficking) are consistent with an interferon-driven inflammatory state. SRGAP1 and ABHD17C are less canonical. The module shows significant downregulation in UC inflammation (paradoxically), but the gene composition is clearly interferon-response. This may reflect a specific fibroblast subpopulation activated by interferon signaling.
