Why this annotation

The module is dominated by heat shock proteins and co-chaperones: HSPA1A, HSPA1B, HSPA6, HSPH1, HSPD1, HSPE1, HSPB1, DNAJA4, DNAJB4, AHSA1, CHORDC1, STIP1, and BAG3 — all canonical components of the HSP70/HSP90 chaperone machinery activated by proteotoxic or thermal stress. CACYBP is a ubiquitin ligase partner. This is a tight, coherent heat-shock/proteotoxic stress response module. MRPL18 (mitochondrial ribosomal) and a few peripheral genes (LDLR, GPR174, CSF1, CAPG, PKDCC) are loosely associated but do not change the dominant identity. Uniform expression across subsets and low pct positive (16%) is consistent with a stress response induced in a subset of cells (e.g., dissociation stress during scRNA-seq preparation).

Module annotations were drafted by a large language model from the module's genes, then reviewed and approved by a domain expert. See sources & licences.
