Why this annotation
Hub genes ITGA1 (CD49a) and ENTPD1 (CD39) are canonical markers of tissue-resident NK cells, particularly in the intestine. ITGA1 defines the tissue-resident NK subset in gut, ENTPD1 marks regulatory/resident NK cells. GEM is activation-induced in resident lymphocytes, RCAN3 modulates calcineurin/NFAT signaling relevant to residency. GPR171 and KLHL23 are expressed in tissue-resident lymphocyte contexts. The uniform low expression fits a rare tissue-resident NK subset. Neighbor M69 (gut-homing CCR9+ NK) supports a gut-residency neighborhood.
