Why this annotation
The module mixes epithelial junction and adhesion genes (CTNNB1, DSG2, CEACAM6, TSPAN1, KTN1, ADGRG6) with interferon/inflammation-inducible genes (SAMD9L, NCOA7, CEACAM6). CEACAM6 and SAMD9L are upregulated in inflamed colonocytes, which fits the IFN-rich neighborhood of M32, M52 and M97. However, the adhesion component (beta-catenin, desmoglein-2) dominates numerically, and housekeeping-like genes (YWHAZ, TOP1, SH3GLB1) reduce specificity. The best fit is an epithelial adhesion/junction program with an inflammatory tint.
