GMPPB — GDP-mannose pyrophosphorylase B

GMPPB belongs to a gene co-expression module in 2 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Catalytic subunit of the GMPPA-GMPPB mannose-1-phosphate guanylyltransferase complex. Catalyzes the formation of GDP-mannose, an essential precursor of glycan moieties of glycoproteins and glycolipids. Can catalyze the reverse reaction in vitro. Together with GMPPA regulates GDP-alpha-D-mannose levels
