SERPINB5 — Serpin family B member 5
SERPINB5 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 2 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.
SERPINB5's module in each cell type
| Cell type | Module | Shares the module with | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enterocytes | Redox Detoxification Stress | CD9, CDX1, CYBA, GSTK1, GSTP1, KRT18, PYCARD, SEC61B +3 more | View in SCUBA |
| Goblet cells | Basement Membrane Remodeling migration & adhesion | AHNAK, CD55, CYP3A5, F3, GPRC5A, LAMA3, LAMB3, LAMC2 +7 more | View in SCUBA |

Function
Tumor suppressor. It blocks the growth, invasion, and metastatic properties of mammary tumors. As it does not undergo the S (stressed) to R (relaxed) conformational transition characteristic of active serpins, it exhibits no serine protease inhibitory activity
