Why this annotation
TAL1/SCL is a master hematopoietic and erythroid transcription factor essential for erythropoiesis. SLC40A1 (ferroportin) is the sole iron exporter, highly expressed in erythroid precursors and critical for erythropoiesis. ZMYND8 and CTNNBL1 are chromatin/epigenetic regulators. STAM is involved in cytokine/JAK-STAT signaling important in hematopoiesis. PDCD4 modulates translational regulation in differentiating cells. SNX5 (sorting nexin) and NBAS (ER-Golgi trafficking) contribute to vesicular/membrane regulation during differentiation. The erythroid anchor genes TAL1 and SLC40A1 define this as an early erythroid progenitor chromatin/iron regulation module, complementing M23's terminal differentiation program.
