Why this annotation
CA4 is a canonical marker of venous/post-capillary endothelium in the colon. CD36, FABP5, MGLL, and OSBPL1A indicate active lipid metabolism characteristic of this EC subtype. PLAT (tPA) is venous EC-enriched. The module is strongly and significantly downregulated in both UC and CD inflammation and recovers in remission, consistent with loss of a specialized venous endothelial identity during colitis.
